Carers Australia Events - WA
DonateLife Week 2019 is Sunday 28 July to Sunday 4 August.
DonateLife Week is our annual community awareness campaign to promote organ and tissue donation in Australia. Each year, events are held across Australia across the week to encourage all Australians to register on the Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR) and to tell their family and friends they want to be an organ and tissue donor. Did you know only one in three Australians have joined the AODR, even though 81 per cent believe registration of donation decisions is important*?
Registration is important – 9 in 10 families agree to donation proceeding when the deceased is a registered organ donor. This drops to just 52 cent where the deceased was not registered and the family had no prior knowledge. More than 1,400 Australians are today on wait lists for a life-saving or life-transforming transplant. If you are willing to one day save lives by becoming an organ and tissue donor, please register and discuss your decision with your family and friends.
The 2019 supporter kit will be available soon via the resources tab at the top of this page.
NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. NAIDOC Week is held in the first full week of July. It is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society.
